Position
Hugh is a partner at Spoor & Fisher. He deals with domestic and international trade mark registration, searches and renewals, domestic and international trade mark, copyright litigation and copyright agreements. Hugh specialises in commercial agreements relating to intellectual property, licensing, franchising entertainment law, media law and international distribution, as well as competition, advertising, gaming, entertainment, film, music and sports law.
Career
Hugh commenced studying, initially, for a B Proc degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1980. He converted to a Bachelor of Arts Degree and, on completion of his Bachelors of Arts Degree, he spent a year travelling through Europe and the United States. He returned to South Africa and completed his LLB Degree at the University of the Witwatersrand. Hugh joined Spoor & Fisher as a partner in June 2001.

Contributed to the chapter on Sponsorship Agreements published by the Centre for International Legal Studies.
Regular speaker at industry conferences, including International Bar Conferences 2013-2015, Advertising & Marketing Law Annual Conference 2015-2016, eCommerce Law & Security Conference 2015.
Guest lecturer at South Africa’s top universities, including University of Johannesburg (sports law), University of the Witwatersrand (communications law), the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, and Stellenbosch University (interface between the Competition Act and IP legislation)
