Career

Tomas Steenmetser specializes in leasing law pertaining to business premises, purchase law and the general law of obligation relating to property. In February 2015 he represented a very large group of parties leasing real estate to V&D. Together with Jesse Zijlma (BarentsKrans) he drafted the settlement agreement reached between V&D and almost all of the lessors.

Tomas has a number of publications to his name. He is the author of Huurrecht Wetteksten (act texts on rent law), a Sdu publication and co-author of the study book Boom Basics Huurrecht. He has a permanent position lecturing on leasing and purchase for the educational organisations OSR and the UvA (the Eggens Insituut). In addition, he gives various courses and lectures. Until recently Tomas sat on the board of the Vereniging van Huurrecht Advocaten (Dutch society of leasing law lawyers).

Tomas is recognized as leading practitioner in real estate in the Who's Who Legal for Real Estate as well as in the Legal500. In 2012 Lawyers World recognized Tomas as 'Leading Lawyer'. Tomas joined Lexence in 2001 and was appointed to the Management Board in 2015.  Before Lexence he worked for Boekel De Nerée.
