Career

Tone has over 25 years of experience in advising clients on a range of legal matters within intellectual property, in particular trademark clearance and filing strategies, oppositions, the management and implementation of their trademark portfolio and conflicts and other enforcement options. She works closely with her clients to develop a detailed understanding of their needs and many clients continue to work with her over the long term, recognising her tenacity and substantive argumentation when securing and enforcing their branding rights.

Her detailed knowledge of both commercial and marketing law ensures she is regularly tasked with assisting her clients through a range of legal issues, including both contentious and unfair competition matters. Her extensive international expertise has seen her assist with strategy development for some of the Zacco’s largest clients, helping them to manage and develop their global portfolios, and her creativity and persistence has been integral to overturning multiple initial refusals.

Tone joined Zacco in 2000, quickly becoming an integral part of the Trademark Division in Norway. Her experience is complemented by her experience working as a senior examiner with the Trademark and Design Department at the Norwegian Patent Office. She graduated with a Law Degree (Cand. Jur.) from the University of Oslo in 1991, with copyright as her elective subject and trademark rights as her specialisation. She has since completed a number of courses in both Norwegian and international intellectual property rights.

Tone is a member of the Norwegian Bar Association, the Association of Norwegian Patent Agents, NIR, FICPI, AIPPI and INTA.
