Career

Nils is a skilled IP strategist, able to advise his clients on a range of IP matters, mostly related to the securing and enforcement of their IP rights. Working across the full breadth of industrial and service sectors, his domestic and international clients include SMEs and multinational corporations with global portfolios. His continued success and commitment to excellence remains a reason that many international clients choose Zacco to help them establish and enforce their rights across Germany.

A capable litigator, he is quickly able to establish the most important strategic, commercial and legal implications of his client’s rights, working in close collaboration with them to understand their market share, jurisdictions and areas of operation, and developing a strategy suited to their specific needs. He litigates patents, designs and trademarks and his skills as a negotiator see him regularly tasked with evaluating and drafting settlements, commercial contracts and licensing agreements.

Nils is a German attorney at law and Certified Specialised Lawyer for Industrial Property Law (Fachanwalt für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz). He graduated from Kiel University in 1999 and spent his legal in-service training preceding the second state examination, among others, with the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and with an international law firm in Moscow, Russia. Before joining the Zacco Group in 2011, Nils worked for many years as an attorney at law in a Bremen based Intellectual Property Law firm. He now holds the degree of Dr. jur. (PhD).

Nils is a member of the German Federal Bar (BRAK), a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and Copyright Law (GRUR), and the German lawyers association.
