Career

Sara K. McCracken is a partner with Deloitte Legal Canada LLP and has over 25 years of experience in tax and corporate/commercial law. Her practice includes providing domestic and international tax planning advice; preparing cross-border intercompany agreements; advising on business acquisitions, restructurings, and reorganizations; setting up business and other entities for Canadian inbound investment; and structuring and implementing a wide variety of corporate/commercial transactions. Sara also assists taxpayers in making voluntary disclosures and resolving their tax disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency.

Sara was the gold medalist in earning her BA (Political Science) from Queen’s University in 1993. She received her LLB from the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia in 1996, and was admitted to the Law Society of British Columbia in 1997. Sara subsequently graduated with an LLM in Tax (First Class Distinction) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London, while on sabbatical in 2002. Sara also has completed the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax course.

Sara currently acts for a diverse group of clients, from owner/manager businesses to multinational corporations, in a wide variety of industries. She provides a broad range of tax-based legal services including corporate structure, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence and other business law matters. Sara is recognized as a leader in her field by the Best Lawyers in Canada.
