Under the theme of “Leveraging Carbon Markets and Renewables for Achieving Net Zero in APAC,” this session will offer invaluable insights drawn from the experiences of the United States (US) and the European Union (EU) and put these in a Japanese context, providing actionable strategies for navigating the evolving landscape of carbon trading and sustainable energy solutions.

Among other key themes, some of the topics we will be discussing are:

  • Carbon trading fundamentals: an overview of APAC carbon markets
  • Carbon intensity attributes of energy sources (including LNG, hydrogen and transportation fuels (e.g. biofuels)
  • Role of Virtual and Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs/CPPAs)
  • Case studies and best practices from the US/EU
  • Regulatory outlook and policy considerations in APAC

In each case, a specialist partner from Jones Day – Dickson Chin, Paul Greening, Lukas Kratochvil and Ming-Yee Lin – will provide expert commentary during the discussion.
