Event Report
The GC Powerlist Mexico 2025, sponsored by Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez, brought together leading in-house counsel for an evening that balanced insight, celebration and a welcome dose of humour. The event opened with remarks from Creel, who spoke about the firm’s longstanding collaboration with The Legal 500 and reflected on the importance of supporting Mexico’s growing community of corporate legal leaders.
Karina Ojeda, General Counsel of Capital Indigo, then delivered a lively keynote speech addressing the rapid regulatory changes reshaping Mexico and the accelerating rise of artificial intelligence. She reminded attendees that while innovation is essential, it cannot replace the distinctly human qualities that define great legal leadership. Ethics, courage, judgment and empathy, she noted, remain irreplaceable—even in a future increasingly shaped by algorithms. Her perspective encouraged adaptability and curiosity, while gently challenging lawyers to evolve without losing their essence.
This was followed by an overview of the country’s broader political and regulatory moment from Gustavo Almaraz, offering context for the shifting landscape that today’s GCs must continuously navigate.
The evening ultimately served both as a recognition of the outstanding in-house counsel featured in the 2025 edition and as a reminder that the profession is entering a new era—one in which technological advancement and human wisdom must coexist, complement and strengthen one another.
