Event Report
Legal 500 is thrilled to be back in Santiago de Chile to present the GC Powerlist Chile 2026. Since 2019, our publication has recognised some of the most esteemed in-house legal professionals in the country and helped build a GC community that, we are proud to say, remains connected both at our events and beyond.
On the 43rd floor in Las Condes, with Santiago’s outstanding skyline as a backdrop, the annual GC gathering took place at the offices of our partners, Carey.
During the speeches, Pablo Iacobelli, Partner at Carey, highlighted the role of the modern GC, increasingly closer to the core of the business and instrumental in shaping how organisations engage with their broader environment. Next to address the GCs in the room was Diego Maldonado, Head of Legal Innovation at Magnar, who highlighted the often behind-the-scenes yet essential role of the in-house lawyer, who today must navigate new technologies while operating under the growing pressure to do more with less. Following them, Carmen Godoy, Legal 500 Research Editor, welcomed the powerlisters on behalf of the entire team in London and presented the key trends identified during this year’s research, highlighting the increasingly strategic role of the in-house legal function, the growing integration of legal teams into business decision-making, and the opportunities and challenges presented by technologies such as AI, data protection requirements and the new cybersecurity regulatory framework in Chile.
Throughout the evening, conversations with the GCs in attendance reaffirmed the impact that our publications and events have had on Chile’s in-house legal community over the years. From powerlisters recommending peers for future editions and sharing how they rely on one another when facing complex legal challenges within their organisations, to hearing how one of our events helped inspire the creation of Abogadas In House Chile, an association dedicated to building a network of female in-house lawyers who support, mentor and encourage one another, the sense of community was evident throughout the room.
Thank you to Carey and Magnar for their trust and support in our mission to continue strengthening the GC community in Chile and thank you to all the powerlisters of the GC Powerlist Chile 2026 for their commitment to keeping this community alive.
