Learnings from The Thomson Reuters AI and Professional Services Report

Overview

This webinar explores how artificial intelligence has rapidly evolved from a phase of experimentation into a core strategic priority for the legal sector. With adoption rates nearly doubling year-on-year and the majority of professionals now using AI tools regularly, it is clear that AI is becoming embedded in everyday legal workflows. UK law firms are under growing pressure—from both clients and regulators—to demonstrate not only adoption, but responsible and effective use. As AI capabilities expand across key tasks such as legal research, document review, summarisation, and contract analysis, the traditional foundations of legal work are being reshaped into more technology-enabled, efficient models.

At the same time, the session highlights that this moment represents a critical turning point for the industry. While AI adoption is widespread, many firms still lack clear frameworks for measuring return on investment, creating challenges in justifying spend and demonstrating value. Client expectations are also evolving, with corporate counsel increasingly anticipating AI-enabled service delivery, even if not explicitly requiring it. Against a backdrop of optimism and concern—particularly around billing models, job roles, and skills—the webinar positions AI as a catalyst for reinvention. It will examine how law firms can move beyond efficiency gains to unlock competitive advantage, enhance client experience, and build new operating models, using data-driven insights to navigate this pivotal transformation.
