Event Report
Between the majestic Andean mountains and a bright green landscape, Legal 500’s team welcomed the 2026 cohort of the GC Powerlist: Ecuador. This fourth edition of the GC Powerlist in the country reinforces what was already clear throughout the past four years of research: the Ecuadorian in-house community continues to grow, thrive, and has become a strong reference point for resilience, transparency, and excellence across
the region’s in-house legal sector.
In a room full of the most prestigious in-house lawyers of the country, one word stands out: compañerismo. This Spanish word, which translates to teamwork, was highlighted in Carmen Godoy’s speech. The lead editor of this edition of the GC Powerlist: Ecuador welcomed everyone in the room, shared the research results with them, and congratulated the awardees on behalf of the Legal 500 team.
After her speech, Agustin Acosta, managing partner at Dentons Paz Horowitz, our sponsors for the evening, addressed the room in a speech that highlighted the importance of fostering teamwork and having a high commitment to excellence in an everchanging regulatory and socio-economic context.
After the speeches, Carmen Godoy hosted the certificates ceremony, a chance to welcome the GCs in the room on stage and congratulate and celebrate them individually. This was followed by an enriching networking session alongside some delicious canapes and drinks.
It was a fantastic evening on which Godoy and David Freeman, senior business
development manager, welcomed back senior powerlisters and gave a warm welcome to the new ones on behalf of the Legal 500 team back in London!
We extend our warmest thanks to Dentons Paz Horowitz, the powerhouse firm whose partnership made this event so exceptional. Their support throughout the years is a testament to the shared purpose of creating a GC community in the country that thrives and grows together.
Thank you again to all who joined us in celebrating the in-house legal excellence in Ecuador. We look forward to continuing to spotlight the incredible in-house talent in this country.
