Event Report

On Wednesday 21st May, Legal 500 was delighted to launch the inaugural edition of the GC Powerlist: Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, in partnership with Clyde & Co. Against the backdrop of the Hyatt Regency ballroom, leading practitioners from across the country gathered to recognise the work and achievements of an impressive cohort of Saudi Arabia’s top in-house counsel.

Isabel Caine, Event content editor, opened the evening, followed by an address from Alain Sfeir, Clyde & Co’s Corporate Partner and Board member of the Middle East & Africa Board. Both speakers highlighted the pivotal role that in-house counsel play in today’s fast-paced and dynamic business world, as well as their key contribution to Vision 2030.

Saudi Arabia’s rapidly developing market requires general counsel to adapt and evolve just as quickly – and in-house counsel are often called upon to take on a role that goes beyond traditional legal advice. Legal teams are increasingly taking their place as a crucial component of the business decision-making process: general counsel are no longer seen as ‘gatekeepers’, but rather as strategic business partners.

Honourees were then invited to collect their certificates and have their photographs taken to commemorate the achievement.

Legal 500 is honoured to celebrate the in-house counsel that are helping to shape Saudi Arabia’s business landscape and extends sincere congratulations to all those who featured on the inaugural Powerlist.

Legal 500 would also like to thank Clyde & Co for acting as the exclusive sponsor of the GC Powerlist: Saudi Arabi 2025.
