Giovanni Galimberti and Stefano Silvestri are joint heads of Bird & Bird's retail practice group, which includes specialists in corporate and M&A, dispute resolution, administrative law and employment. Antonella Ceschi assisted Bricoman Italia with the administrative and urban aspects of its opening of a new retail store in Treviso.

BonelliErede's activity in the retail sector spans areas such as corporate, banking and finance, tax and administrative law.¬†Claudio Tesauro¬†and others are acting as global antitrust counsel to Luxottica Group on its proposed¬†‚ā¨50bn merger with¬†Essilor. In addition,¬†Enrico Vaccaro¬†led advice to Grandi Stazioni Retail on its acquisition of Retail Group. Alessandro Balp¬†and Emanuela Da Rin¬†are key contacts.

The cross-practice retail, fashion and design department at DLA Piper is jointly led by Davide Rossetti and associate Elena Varese. The team represented Duracell in trade mark infringement cases concerning the pink rabbit mascot and colour combination of its batteries. Another highlight involved advising Jacobs Douwe Egberts on a corporate joint venture with Natex Dispenser Division for the management of '12oz Coffee Joint' branded cafes in Italy. Starbucks, Luxottica and Valentino are other major clients of the firm.

Notable clients of Chiomenti's retail, food and consumer goods department include vending machine retailer Necta and liqueur producer Casoni Fabbricazione Liquori. The group is most active in corporate, banking and finance, restructuring and insolvency and IP. Its work included advising De Rigo on its acquisition of the 50% share capital of Remdottica from Mondottica. Head of team Luigi Vaccaro is a key contact. Paolo Bertoni is another name to note.

Latham & Watkins LLP's strong reputation sees it act for clients such as¬†illycaff√® and¬†Hunkem√∂ller. Led by practice head¬†Stefano Sciolla, the retail team particularly stands out for corporate and financing matters, as was evidenced when it assisted the Zanatta Family with the ‚ā¨200m sale of a 40% stake in Tecnica Group to¬†Italmobiliare. The matter also included a financial restructuring of Tecnica.

In the retail sector,¬†Legance - Avvocati Associati¬†focuses on the areas of¬†corporate and M&A, banking and finance, real estate and administrative law. The team, noted for 'always being available',¬†assisted a consortium of lenders with the¬†‚ā¨230m refinancing of loans of¬†MD S.p.A, an Italian retailer with over 700 stores. Corporate partner Filippo Troisi¬†is a name to note.

Giangiacomo Olivi, who joined Dentons from DLA Piper in April 2018, is the head of the retail practice group. The team successfully represented Diesel in a lawsuit against Zara Italy over an alleged violation of a copyright design. Elsewhere, the firm advises clients on corporate matters, as well as real estate, competition and litigation, among other areas.

Gianni, Origoni, Grippo, Cappelli & Partners¬†has a multifaceted offering, drawing upon its strong capabilities across a wide range of disciplines. Domenico Tulli¬†led a team that¬†assisted¬†a German e-commerce company with opening a new ‚ā¨150m distribution centre.¬†Maria Grazia Lanero¬†is another real estate partner to note. Corporate partner¬†Francesco Selogna¬†and litigator Decio Nicola Mattei¬†are also recommended.
