Legal Market Overview
Ethiopia has an unusual legal market in that it has no partnerships. All practices are led by a sole partner, who may be supported by a team of other senior and junior lawyers. Frequently, senior practitioners will leave to establish their own sole partner practice. Consequently, law practices lack the profile and prominence that firms in other jurisdictions enjoy. There is frequent talk of relaxing this tight regulation enabling the advent of multi-partner law firms but, as yet, no concrete moves towards this.
