Position

Simon is head of Maples and Calder’s Funds & Investment Management team in the Maples Group’s Jersey office. He has significant experience in the establishment, structuring and maintenance of offshore funds and other investment, acquisition and holding structures within the real estate, private equity and hedge fund sectors.  He also has a particular specialism in the establishment and structuring of UK REITs and Shariah-compliant funds and other investment, acquisition and financing structures.

Simon acts for a wide range of clients, whether as fund promotors or investors, including well-known financial institutions, investment managers and sovereign wealth funds, as well as boutique investment managers, established family offices and high net worth investors.

Simon also advises on all aspects of corporate and commercial law, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and financing transactions and offshore listings on The International Stock Exchange (“TISE”) or elsewhere.

Career

Simon joined the Maples Group in Jersey in 2018.  He was previously at another international law firm for 15 years where he was a Group Partner within the Investment Funds Group since 2008.  Prior to that Simon worked in London as a Senior Lawyer in the private equity and investment funds team at SJ Berwin and then as Legal Counsel at Barings Private Equity Partners.
