Principal Steering Committee member of the European Private Equity Practice Group. Luc Meeus advises Belgian and foreign companies on the tax and corporate aspects of transactions, with a particular focus on fund structuring and private equity transactions. He also advises on the tax and legal aspects of stock based incentive plans.


Luc Meeus joined Baker McKenzie in 1997 and was made principal in 2010.

Luc Meeus is a member of the Brussels Bar and a member of the New York Bar. He is a member of the Tax Practice Group, the Corporate Finance Practice Group, the Global Equity Practice Group and the Fund Structuring Practice Group of Baker McKenzie. He is a member of the Belgian branch of the International Fiscal Association and of Baker McKenzie's European Private Equity Steering Committee.

Koen Vanhaerents heads the private equity practice at Baker McKenzie CVBA/SCRL, the strengths of which echo those of the firm as a whole, and include a strong capacity to handle multi-jurisdictional transactions for well-known clients. On the seller side, recent highlights include its advice to Oystershell on its acquisition by Gilde; Luc Meeus and Davinia Martens led the advice. Meeus also assisted Valience with a substantial new financing round of Feops. The highly experienced Dominique Maes is another key figure.

  • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

    For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.
