Position

Principal Steering Committee member of the European Private Equity Practice Group. Luc Meeus advises Belgian and foreign companies on the tax and corporate aspects of transactions, with a particular focus on fund structuring and private equity transactions. He also advises on the tax and legal aspects of stock based incentive plans.

Koen Vanhaerents heads the private equity practice at Baker McKenzie CVBA/SCRL, the strengths of which echo those of the firm as a whole, and include a strong capacity to handle multi-jurisdictional transactions for well-known clients. On the seller side, recent highlights include its advice to Oystershell on its acquisition by Gilde; Luc Meeus and Davinia Martens led the advice.   • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

    For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.
