Career

David Wu’s practice centers around protecting the intellectual property and R&D investments of clients. He has extensive experience advising clients on patent strategy and portfolio development, as well as patent enforcement and defensive strategies.

David works closely with clients to understand their business and technologies and tailors IP strategies to help achieve their business goals effectively and cost-efficiently. He has helped clients prosecute a variety of technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, prediction and recommendation systems, cryptography, computer graphics, image and video compression, virtual-reality and augmented-reality devices and platforms, operating systems, application frameworks, cloud infrastructures and services, desktop and mobile applications, UX/UI designs, mapping systems, social media platforms, hardware accelerators, telecommunication, network technologies, fleet-management systems, autonomous vehicles, micromobility vehicles, sensor calibration, sensor-data processing, power-management devices, medical devices, and the mechanical arts.

In addition to patent prosecution, David also provides freedom-to-operate assessments and provide counsel on product development to help clients minimize the risk of patent infringement.

Prior to practicing law, David was a software engineer at IBM, where he designed and developed enterprise system software and oversaw software development operations in China.

David is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
