Giorgio is Head of Ogier’s Global Latin American practice, Head of Global Investment Funds and Head of Ogier’s Private Client and Trusts Group in the Cayman Islands.

Giorgio joined Ogier in 2002 and became a partner in 2006. He is Head of Ogier’s Global Latin American practice and Head of Global Investment Funds.

His investment funds practice focuses on the establishment of, and on-going advice to, offshore hedge funds and private equity funds for a range of investment managers and financial institutions. His over fifteen years of experience in the Cayman Islands funds market spans the whole spectrum of fund structures, strategies, and situations. Giorgio also represents institutional investors in their investment in Cayman Islands funds.


Before joining Ogier, Giorgio practiced at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York (1998 to 2002), Pinheiro Neto - Advogados in Sao Paulo (1994 to 1995) and Linklaters in London and Paris (1992 to 1994 and 1995 to 1997).

Giorgio is featured in the 2017 edition of the "Who's Who Legal" for private fund lawyers and is recognised by industry commentators as a specialist in his areas of expertise for the Cayman Islands.


He is fluent in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.


Giorgio is a member of STEP and is a Notary Public in the Cayman Islands and a member of the Cayman Islands Law Society, the Law Society of England and Wales and the New York Bar Association.


Giorgio received his Diploma de Estudios Hispánicos from the University of Málaga, Spain in 1986; his Bachelor of Law, with Honours, from the University of London, King's College, in 1990; Maîtrise en Droit, avec mention, from the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne, in the same year; and Master of Law from University of Michigan Law School at Ann Arbor in 1992.

Advising local and international clients that range from start-ups to multinationals, Ogier's 'excellent team is effective and proactive and delivers commercial, bespoke advice'. The corporate practice includes M&A, asset and share disposals, corporate reorganisations, regulatory advice and day-to-day corporate governance; the office stands out for its corporate Latin America practice and its dedicated digital and fintech team. It advised longstanding client Dream Global REIT on its acquisition of a portfolio of 135 office and light industrial properties from a private equity syndicate, and acted as Cayman counsel to Deutsche Bank on the disposal of its corporate services and fund administration services businesses. Bradley Kruger heads the firm’s Caribbean and Asia corporate practice, Giorgio Subiotto is global Latin America practice leader, and James Heinicke 'combines a masterful knowledge of his areas of expertise with the ability to break down the issues clearly for clients'. Ogier's 'overall service level is very good and the practice has a knowledgeable and well resourced team, with very good experience of Cayman funds'. It advises on all aspects of the investment fund life-cycle, as well as downstream transactional matters, and assists with the full spectrum of fund structures, including hedge, private equity, real estate, venture, cryptocurrency and hybrid. The team advised Aryeh Capital Management as offshore counsel on a master-feeder fund launch that involved a Cayman-exempted limited partnership as the master fund and Canadian, US and Cayman feeder funds. Giorgio Subiotto is global investment funds head; Nick Rogers is private equity and cryptocurrency funds head; and James Bergstrom is the principal architect of the firm's investment funds practice. Ogier's Cayman private client and trusts team team is 'responsive, meticulous and knowledgeable'; it has extensive experience in establishing sophisticated structures for succession purposes, asset protection and family governance. Typical work includes advising on Cayman STAR Trusts, charitable and non-charitable purpose trusts, BVI VISTA Trusts and estate planning. Other areas of strength are foundation and private trust companies, offshore relocations and regulatory issues. Giorgio Subiotto heads the firm’s private client and trusts group in Cayman, and Anthony Partridge specialises in non-contentious private trust matters and wealth structuring for institutional trustees and high-net-worth individuals, together with all related regulatory work and cross-border succession matters. Partridge has particular expertise in resealing foreign grants in the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands. Rachael Reynolds' practice regularly involves trust disputes. Fraser Allister is a key senior associate; managing associate Jennifer Fox rejoined the Cayman office from Walkers BVI.
