Appleby's recent work involved significant hotel and resort developments, sophisticated secured lending transactions and major property developments in the Cayman Islands (Cayman). Examples include advising NCB Group on the development of a luxury wellness and business boutique hotel and spa. Property head Norman Klein has particular expertise in the areas of hotels, condominiums and commercial development, as well as in financing and restructuring; counsel Adam Johnson and senior associate Donald Miller are also key members of the team. It acted for Double K Bird Nest on the purchase of a luxury oceanfront condominium on Seven Mile Beach. Senior partner David Ritch JP is a strata titles law expert who 'has a very nuanced understanding of the legal, cultural, business and political landscape, which is the basis for practical and reasoned solutions'. Solomon Harris recently merged with the Channel Islands-based Bedell Cristin. The team regularly advises major developers, investors and retail banks in Cayman on real estate matters, including financing. The litigation department advises on high- profile, contentious real estate matters. The group acted for Butler Group as developer on a luxury property development that will comprise 20 luxury condominium residences. Maples and Calder's 'excellent team is at the top of its game'; it advises on the development of properties, residential land, strata title, commercial buildings, shopping centres, golf courses and hotels. The practice advises Kimpton Hotel Group on the management of the Kimpton Seafire Resort, including licensing, IP and real estate issues. Associate George Loutas heads the property and construction group in the Cayman office.

Forbes Hare regularly acts for banks and financial institutions on large project finance deals in Cayman; the team also assists private investors, hoteliers, property developers and landlords and tenants on commercial and residential sales and purchases, leasing and licensing, bank financing, planning issues, construction and development, and strata title issues.
