Position

Mr Do Trong Hai is the principal founder and managing partner of Bizlink Lawyers who has over 20 years’ experience of legal practice. His areas of practice cover dispute resolution and litigation, investments, corporate and commerce, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring and insolvency, banking and finance, real estates and construction. Mr Hai makes a great focus on the dispute resolution and litigation before court and arbitration inside and outside Vietnam where he has participated in some dozens of significant cases to date. Mr Hai has been recognised as a leading practitioner by a number of well-known international legal magazines, including The Legal 500, Chambers and Partners, Practical Law, Asialaw, Acquisition International, etc in different areas of practice. Mr Hai was co-author of a book: Arbitration in Asia, Vietnam Chapter, in 2003-2004 in collaboration with an international law firm, Norton Rose; co-author for Vietnam Chapter of The International Comparative Legal Guide to: Litigation and Dispute Resolution 2010, Securitization 2011 and International Arbitration 2014, published by Global Legal Group, UK; co-author for Vietnam chapter of The Dispute Resolution Review; fifth edition in 2013 and sixth edition 2014, published by the Law Business Research, UK.

    On 6/20/2012, the National Assembly voted to adopt the Law on Price (the "LOP") in response to the public demand for an effective legal framework to control price manipulation from dominant enterprises such as gasoline, electricity, etc. The law will take effect from 01/01/2013 and repeal Ordinance No. 40/2002/PL-UBTVQH10 dated 26/4/2002 of the National Assembly Standing Committee (the "Ordinance"), which is conceived as outdated and containing certain provisions contravening the WTO’s regulation. This article describes the main features of the law and provides some insight into its potential impacts on the Vietnamese economy.
