Position

Nathalie Henin is a specialist in European regulatory affairs in the food sector. She has more than 20 years of experience as Director of Scientific and Regulatory Affairs mainly in the food industry but also in the plant protection products industry.

Her very broad experience in European regulatory affairs in the food sector plays a pivotal role in supporting the Food Law & Science team and FLS’ clients with scientific and regulatory compliance matters.

Focusing on the composition and properties of clients’ food and feed, Nathalie helps them understand their likely status from a regulatory perspective and how manufacturers can strengthen their case from a that perspective.

Nathalie is particularly sought-after for her experience and technical capabilities in understanding the scientific makeup and regulations of novel foods, food additives, processing aids, functional ingredients, feed additives and materials, and substances produced by fermentation with genetically modified microorganisms, among others.

She regularly drafts and contributes to EU and/or national authorization dossiers on novel foods, food additives, food enzymes and foods for special medical purposes. She is frequently called upon to advise and give scientific insights into food analysis and toxicological studies.

She also validates compliance with EU regulations such as labelling, substantiation of claims, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

Education

Nathalie has a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (Biochemistry and Nutrition).   In addition to her Ph.D., Nathalie has a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland.
