Career
Felipe Bastos leads the Insurance and Reinsurance practices at FAS Advogados. With more than 20 years of experience, he advises local and foreign companies and has a deep knowledge of the Insurance and Reinsurance markets with a wide expertise in complex lawsuits, arbitration proceedings, mediations and negotiations in multiple jurisdictions. He also advises national and international clients extensively, being an expert in commercial contracts, construction contracts (EPC), contracts of the Oil & Gas industry and Energy sector.
Graduated in law (LL.B.) from Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) in 2002, Felipe holds a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) from University of Virginia School of Law, USA, a MBA degree in Insurance and Reinsurance from Escola Nacional de Seguros (National School of Insurance), besides being certified in Marine Insurance from Instituto Mar e Portos-UERJ. Felipe was a member of the Insurance Commission of the Brazilian Bar Association, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro Chapters for several mandates, and of the American Chamber (AMCHAM-RJ) Insurance and Reinsurance Committee. Felipe has also been an active member of the Brazilian Chapter of AIDA – Association Internationale de Droit des Assurances. He has been appointed as the Brazilian representative of AIDA to the Worldwide Financial Lines and Cyber Insurance Working Party Meetings. He lectures continuously on insurance law at various universities, such as Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and Escola Nacional de Seguros (ENS). He also is a Professor, speaker and author of various articles and publications.
