Career
Maria is an experienced lawyer specialised in the strategic aspects of intellectual property, marketing law and closely related legal topics. She is a skilled IP strategist, able to advise her clients on a range of IP issues, from the development of their international protection strategies to the enforcement of their intellectual property rights, including representing them before the courts when necessary.
Her expertise cover the identification, drafting and prosecution of IP rights, across trademarks, designs and copyrights, and her commercial acumen often sees her advising clients on the commercialisation of their IP portfolio, negotiating and drafting contracts and licensing agreements and helping them to explore the potential value of their current or planned rights. She is also an experienced litigator, representing and advising clients on a range of opposition and enforcement proceedings, on infringement, counterfeit and regulatory or legislative matters.
Maria has a law degree from Lund University. She joined Zacco in April 2008 after spending some time with another firm but prior to that, she worked at the Administrative Court of Appeal and the District Court of Gothenburg. Operating on behalf of clients all over the world, Maria’s time within the IP court system, and her significant expertise developed since, has given her a detailed understanding of regulatory and legislative IP best practice across a range of industries and international markets.
Her skills are often requested within the early stages of branding IP development as she is able to help clients examine the potential benefits and avoid the potential pitfalls of each filing option and decision available to them.
Maria is a member of various national and international associations active within the field of intellectual property.
