Managing Partner of the firm’s San Francisco office, leader of the California environmental practice and firm-wide Climate Change and ESG practices. Shannon represents energy companies, including oil and gas and renewable energy and fuels, other manufacturers, and trade associations on climate change, related environmental social and governance issues, air quality regulation and enforcement, and emergency response. She leads the defense of a major petroleum company in the climate change nuisance suits filed across the country. She also advises companies on energy transition, environmental and social governance, and environmental justice issues. Her practice encompasses advancing new technology to address climate change, including carbon capture and sequestration of hydrogen, and e-fuels. She is currently advising a client on a groundbreaking project to address climate change, which addresses a range of carbon capture and storage issues involving a large joint venture to capture carbon and store it, potentially for later beneficial use, including legal issues around carbon sequestration and contractual obligations. Her chemical engineering experience affords her useful and practical insight into development of regulations and for advising on environmental, health, and safety compliance and enforcement issues.
