The historic combination between Dentons and 大成 brings together more than 9000 lawyers and professionals and is the first combination of a Chinese firm and a polycentric global firm. Dentons Egypt established a business presence in 1964, and is the oldest international law firm in Egypt. The office is run in association with the Afifi Law Office, an Egyptian law firm founded by the late Counsellor Ahmed Safaa El Din El Oteifi, the former vice president of the Court of Cassation (Egypt’s highest court), and Mr Amal Afifi Dawood, a renowned litigator and legal specialist, as well as 12 senior/assistant Egyptian attorneys. Dentons provides a comprehensive range of services to multinational groups, private companies and investors in a wide variety of businesses and industries, financial institutions and funds, as well as governments and international organizations doing, or looking to do, business in Egypt. The association is experienced in practice areas including arbitration and litigation, asset finance, aviation, banking and financial markets, corporate and commercial, construction, employment, energy and natural resources, infrastructure projects, intellectual property, media and technology, mergers and acquisitions, privatization, project finance, property and telecommunications.
With 30 legal staff, Dentons works closely with the Afifi Law Office to provide a comprehensive range of services including domestic and international legal advising and consulting.
At present, the Cairo office employs lawyers with Egyptian and American qualification, law degrees and training.
The office is in good standing before the main tribunals dealing with commercial matters, the economic ministries and authorities, the Central Bank of Egypt, the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority, and other regulatory bodies.
