James Schuelke is known to his clients for his ability to handle every aspect of a case. Both as lead counsel and in key roles on multi-member trial teams, James has successfully represented clients through every stage of litigation, from pre-suit negotiations through jury verdicts and final appeals. James has significant experience in construction, oil and gas, contract, and fiduciary duty disputes, including high-stakes cases for Energy Transfer Partners, Wood Group, Huntsman, and Port Freeport.

James has first-chair trial experience, and his ability to combine mastery of a complex case with courtroom skill has allowed him to consistently achieve great results for his clients. In 2017, James helped secure winning jury verdicts that included victories on claims of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and fraud.

An honors graduate of Harvard Law School and The University of Texas at Austin, James served as a law clerk to the Honorable Edith Brown Clement of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Prior to his clerkship, James practiced at Vinson & Elkins LLP, where he handled mergers, acquisitions, and energy transactions.
