The 44-strong capital markets team at Barros & Errázuriz is consistently mandated by major companies to advise on issuances of securities and public offerings of bonds, shares and other securities. The practice is also well known for its assistance to domestic and international management companies, investment banks, Chilean investment funds managers and stockbrokers; and being a full-service practice, the team routinely leverages the expertise of the firm’s M&A, corporate, tax and real estate departments for significant capital markets transactions. The group is co-led by Luis Alberto Letelier, who has longstanding experience in advising companies and funds on issues of shares and debt (both in Chile and on the international markets); Cristián Barros, who is a regular adviser on high-stakes capital markets deals; Víctor Barros, whose recent experience includes the issuance and placement of private and public investment funds and bonds; and Javier Díaz is the practice’s regulatory expert. At senior associate level, Juan Ignacio Galdámez advises fund management companies and securities intermediaries regarding capital markets’ matters; Francisco Vial is experienced in securities market regulation; and Pedro Pablo Cruz advises fund managers, securities intermediaries, banks and companies on the issuance of bonds and other instruments. Chile > Compliance

The six-member team at full-service firm Barros & Errázuriz has extensive experience in designing compliance programmes in relation to anti-money laundering, anti-bribery, anti-corruption and counterterrorism. It additionally advises on the compliance aspects of financial regulation, antitrust, and labour and environmental law; and also assists with risk management issues, internal investigations, defence-side administrative investigations and enforcement actions. Javier Díaz is an expert in financial and capital markets regulation, while managing partner Cristián Barros is also actively involved in developing the firm’s compliance department. The senior associate to note, Francisco Vial Marín, advises publicly traded corporations, investment funds and fintech companies on compliance matters.

The four-member team at full-service firm Barros & Errázuriz covers the incorporation and establishment of insurance companies, as well as corporate governance and the sale of share holdings in insurance companies. On the regulatory side, the practice advises on compliance with the regulatory aspects of technical reserves, investment rules, risk management, internal control systems and anti-money laundering. The department is co-led by Carlos Ducci, an expert in corporate law, foreign investment, M&A and joint ventures; and Javier Díaz, whose career includes working as a lawyer for the Chilean Securities and Insurances Authority (now known as the Financial Market Commission). Senior associates Albert Harsch and Jorge Covarrubias round out the team.
