Position

John trained as a solicitor at Linklaters’ London and Hong Kong offices, which included a secondment to Merrill Lynch. He then worked in Maples and Calder’s BVI office, before joining Mourant Ozannes.

Career

John obtained a degree in Law with French Law from Aberdeen University, a Post-graduate Diploma in Law at Nottingham Trent University and the Legal Practice Course at BPP in London. John was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales (currently non-practising) in 2004 and as a solicitor in the British Virgin Islands in 2005.

M&A acquisition finance and shipping finance are more niche areas in which the firm has handled deals. Caroline Chan has a track record of handling sensitive restructurings as well as real estate finance, while Darren Bacon and John Lewis are active in fund financing transactions for well-known borrowers. Helen Wyatt focuses on banking sector transactions against highly complex regulatory backdrops. Frances Watson also acts for borrowers and lenders, including non-bank lenders, with John Rochester particularly active in UK real estate deals.
