Restructuring

Position

Matt specialises in all aspects of recovery, restructuring and insolvency work, with an emphasis on non-contentious corporate and property advice. He advises insolvency practitioners, fixed charge receivers, banks and other lenders, directors and shareholders.

Matt has undertaken secondments with Royal Bank of Scotland’s AIM team, Yorkshire Bank’s SBS team and National Australia Bank’s CRE team and has a good working knowledge of lenders’ internal processes, procedures and requirements.

Career

Qualified in 2008 with Cobbetts in the Manchester office. Joined Gateley in 2012 as one of the founding team of five in the new Leeds office (now 70+ and counting).

Law Society; Institute for Turnaround’s Next Generation committee member.

Education

Manchester Grammar School; Durham University (BA English); Nottingham Law School (GDL and LPC).

Leisure

When not entertaining / being run ragged by his two young children, Matt is a drummer and member of a live Leeds band.
