James is an emerging media and entertainment lawyer who has developed a reputation with his commercially focused, talent development approach through his eight years of in-house and private practice work in the UK, North America and Europe.
Following experience of private practice, James honed his skills for closing deals whilst retaining a global, commercial focus for his clients through his seven years driving the development of the Legal and Business Affairs team at AWAL/Kobalt, where he sat across recordings, publishing and neighbouring rights divisions. Through his three years based in Los Angeles establishing and developing AWAL’s North American legal team, James provides his clients with a unique insight and understanding of career/business development and global commercial strategy across all aspects of the global music industry.
Currently based in Paris and London, James’ experience and connections in the creative industries across the UK, European, and North American markets provide him with a unique appreciation for the challenges artists and industry entrepreneurs face. Combining legal experience and expertise with an understanding of business/career development and growth strategy, James prides himself in delivering highly personalised and focused advice that informs his client base of artists, record labels and publishers and helps them navigate their long-term strategic goals.
