Career

Marie is a shareholder and director in the firm and heads up the Employment team.

As an Employment Lawyer with over 19 years’ experience, Marie works closely with clients to provide straight-forward, practical and commercial advice on a wide variety of employment issues.  This includes advice in relation to recruitment, service agreements, executive terminations, discrimination, TUPE and outsourcing, redundancy and change management, restrictive covenants, and complex grievance complaints.  Marie also advises individuals as to their rights in relation to unfair dismissal and discrimination matters with a specialism in whistleblowing claims.  She acts privately and under the terms of various insurance policies.

Marie is a qualified workplace mediator and although she has represented clients in a number of high profile litigated matters such as contractual disputes, claims for unfair dismissal, discrimination and whistleblowing. She has also conducted litigation matters in the Appellate Courts and has experience of ACAS, judicial mediations  and negotiating settlement agreements.

She regularly gives training and talks and contributes to the press. She is a member of the CIPD and the regional chair for Skipton, a director of Leeds Law Society and the access to justice subcommittee.  Marie is also the Regional Employment Lawyers Association representative for Yorkshire and the Humber.

Finally, Marie is a visiting lecturer at BPP law School in Leeds.
