Claire joined our Agricultural Property team in 2013 and became a Partner in 2020. She is from a farming family and studied Land Economy at the University of Cambridge before choosing to specialise in Agricultural Law.
Claire advises landowners and farmers on all aspects of rural property including purchases and sales, financing arrangements, overage, tenancies, sporting rights, water rights, and diversification projects and also assists the corporate team with property matters in relation to partition and demerger agreements of farming businesses. An equestrian enthusiast, Claire has also advised on gallops agreements and equestrian centre leases.
Claire has developed a specialism advising on tenancies governed by the Agricultural Holdings Act, including surrender arrangements, succession agreements and tax consequences for both landlord and tenant.
In 2018 Claire qualified as a Fellow of the Agricultural Law Association and has a particular interest in the consequences for landowners of the new Agriculture Act and Brexit.
