Career

Anthony is a dispute resolution lawyer with experience in the full spectrum of legal dispute resolution, from alternative dispute resolution to litigation.

Anthony represents clients before Courts and quasi-judicial tribunals, including the Court of Appeal, High Court, Employment and Labour Relations Court, Environment & Land Courts, Magistrate’s Courts, and the Business Premises Rent Tribunal among others.

He is also qualified as a Certified Company/Public Secretary with a strong grasp of principles of corporate governance, corporate secretarial practice, business management and administration, human resources management, as well as basic accounting.

Notable experience:
Successfully defended a client against a claim for a sum of KES 147 million (USD 1.23 million) in a suit over property whose market value was in the year 2021 valued at KES 550 million (USD 4.6 million).

Acting for various clients in appeals against the amounts awarded to them by the National Land Commission as compensation for the compulsory acquisition of their land in Mombasa County. The claims were for amounts ranging from KES 60 million (USD 503,000) to KES 400 million (USD 3.3 million).

Currently acting for a corporate client in a suit seeking to enforce an arbitral award against the County Government of Kajiado for KES 392 million (USD 3.3 million), exclusive of interest and costs.

Successfully defended one of East Africa’s largest and oldest insurance companies in a claim for fraud in connection with a charge over property whose ownership was contested. The property was worth KES 240 million (USD 2.2 million).

Successfully acted for a corporate client in having a foreign judgment obtained from the High Court in Durban South Africa recognised by the High Court for purposes of enforcement in Kenya. The judgment sum was USD 600,000 with interest and costs.
