Anthony is one of the founding partners of the firm.

​A formidable litigator, Anthony’s experience spans more than 4 decades. He has acted as lead counsel in numerous matters before all levels of the Singapore Courts. In particular, Anthony has considerable experience in matters before the Court of Appeal and the High Court where he regularly appears as counsel.

​Anthony has a broad and diverse range of clients and is involved in matters that cut across varied industries and sectors. These include private equity funds, financial institutions, listed companies, government linked entities, small-medium enterprises and individuals.

​Aside from being very experienced before Tribunals and the Courts, he also frequently advises clients on how to better manage their legal risks and inform them of their legal rights or remedies at law.

Clients trust Anthony for his sound and cogent legal advice which helps them shape their case strategy to achieve a more favourable outcome.

Experience

Anthony has litigated on matters involving almost every area of the law and many of his cases have been reported in the law reports and local media. These include:

• Singapore Shooting Association and others v. Singapore Rifle Association [2019] SGCA 83, representing a national sport association and its council members in overturning the High Court decision against them in respect of unlawful means conspiracy.
• BOM v BOK and another appeal [2018] SGCA 83, resisting an appeal before the Court of Appeal in this landmark decision which clarified and elaborated on the law with respect to both unconscionability and undue influence.
• Singapore Rifle Association v Singapore Shooting Association [2018] SGCA 42, successfully defending the landlord in the Court of Appeal against a claim for both negligence and occupiers’ liability with respect to the construction of an embankment on the landlord’s premises.
• The Polo/Lauren Co, LP v Shop In Department Store Pte Ltd [2006] SGCA 14, successfully representing a local company in defending its trade mark against a large USA-based fashion house.
• Management Corporation Strata Title Plan No 1933 v Liang Huat Aluminium Ltd [2001] SGCA 41, representing a management corporation for a condominium development in respect of damages for breach of contract against a subcontractor.
• Low Hua Kin v Kumagai-Zenecon Construction Pte Ltd (in liquidation) and another [2000] SGCA 38, representing two companies claiming reimbursements for losses caused by an ex-director’s breach of fiduciary duties.
• Lim Kok Wah and others v Lim Boh Yong and others and other matters [2015] SGHC 211, representing the directors and shareholders of a company and resisting a minority oppression claim and obtaining a declaration that an extra-ordinary general meeting and a board of directors meeting that were convened (as well as the resolutions passed) were invalid.
• Amutha Valli d/o Krishnan v Titular Superior of the Redemptorist Fathers in Singapore and Others – also known as the “Novena Church Exorcism Trial” [2009] SGHC 35, representing some of the churchgoers who were sued in this unique case that involved claims for assault, battery and false imprisonment arising from an alleged botched exorcism.
• Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS), in various matters before the Copyright Tribunal and the High Court. These relate to discrete and novel points of law as well as claims for copyright infringement against those who use musical or literary works without first obtaining the requisite license.
