Career

Vasileios has been lecturing Criminal Law at the Law School of the National & Capodistrian University of Athens as an academic assistant from 2010-2017 and he has been an appointed lecturer of Criminal and Criminal Procedure Law at the Neapolis University of Paphos (Cyprus) from 2015 to 2020 at an undergraduate as well as postgraduate studies.
Vasileios has been lecturing at the Hellenic Open University since 2018 in the post graduate program “Forensic and Criminal aspects of corruption, of financial and organized crime” in the module “Criminal handling of corruption and organized crime”.
Vasileios has provided conslulting services and in-court assistance in criminal cases of white collar crime, corruption practices, bribery, money laundering (legalisation of profits from illegal activities), securities fraud, banking offences, stock exchange offences, corporate internal investigation, European and International criminal law, European Arrest Warrant, extradition and mutual legal assistance, penal law on sports, environmental offences criminal aspects and penal provisions on gaming law.
Vasileios has published several monographies and numerous articles in legal journals and participated in several legislative committees. He lectures at conferences on criminal law and criminal procedure.

He is fluent in German and English and conversational in French and Hebrew.

Memberships

Vasileios is a member of the Patras Bar Association (2003), Special Secretary of the BoD of the Hellenic Association of Penal Law since 2017, member of the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association and member of the drafting committee of the legal journal of the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association, “Nova Criminalia”.

Education

Vasileios Petropoulos graduated from the Law School of the University of Athens (2001) and obtained a PhD from the Universities of Munich in Criminal Law (2005) and Zurich in Capital Market Criminal Law (2008), receiving a grant from the Greek state. He received his Post Doc in the fields of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, European and International Criminal Law and Financial Criminal Law from the University of Munich (2010). He was an academic scholar in capital market law at the CEGLA Institute of the Buchmann Faculty of Law of the University of Tel Aviv (2010).
