Career

Mridul Chakravarty is a Senior Partner with CLC, having an extensive overall work profile in corporate-commercial litigation, corporate-criminal litigation. He was also a part of the law chambers of Mr. Justice L. Nageswara Rao (Judge, Supreme Court of India) till his elevation to the bench. Mridul started his career under the leadership and supervision of Mr. Sanjay Sen, Senior Advocate, in his law firm, Praxis Partners.

Mridul, over the years has successfully and independently litigated before numerous Civil/ Criminal/ Commercial jurisdictions, including core domains like Infra, Power & Environment, and his appearances include the Supreme Court of India, the High Courts of multiple States, a number of Tribunal(s)/Commission(s) viz. the National Company Law Tribunal (New Delhi)/ National Company Law Appellate Tribunal, the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (New Delhi), the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (New Delhi), various State Electricity Regulatory Commissions. Further, formulation of long-term, pre-litigation strategy is also a core service area he has been involved in and believes it to be an integral foundation of any legal proceeding.

In addition, Mridul has also played a major role in alternative dispute resolution(s) for his clients, such as through arbitration proceedings, conciliation and mediation proceedings. Mridul also assisted clients with numerous legal opinions on diversified issues, ranging from sale and distribution of electricity in Nagpur Urban Distribution Division of Gandi Bagh, Civil Lines and Mahal; allocation of coal blocks through the competitive bidding route; rights of companies in mining coals and minerals; primogeniture and succession within the members of erstwhile Royals from the western part of India, etc.

Mridul has also been part and lead teams in preparation of detailed landscape reports for various government and private entities like the Department of Public Enterprises, Odisha, for the State’s Public Enterprises Reforms Project which also involved the Department for International Development (DFID), UK, endeavouring to privatize, close and restructure the ailing public enterprises in Odisha. Mridul has also conducted Legal Due Diligence (LDD) for projects such as development of multiple inter-state highways & toll roads in the State of Gujarat, for projects relating to establishments of medical super-specialty hospitals and acquisition of land for such purpose, projects relating to taking-over of an Indian company, etc. to name a few.

Mridul has also legally contributed to certain philanthropic causes through the journey of his career.
