Career

David previously worked for Quinn Insurance managing their Professional Indemnity claims book for both England and Wales and the Republic of Ireland. He also worked for AIG Insurance as Head of Financial Lines Claims Ireland, dealing with some of the most challenging and high profile legal matters including Professional Indemnity claims against Solicitors, Architects, Accountants, Engineers, Financial advisors, insurance brokers and Auctioneers. Prior to joining Flynn O’Driscoll, he was a partner in a specialist Dublin law firm dealing with Plaintiff and Defendant insurance litigation and the provision of Insurance policy coverage advice.

David is the co-author of the only Irish legal text dealing with professional negligence, entitled Lawyer’s Professional Negligence and Insurance, published by Thomson Reuters Roundhall. He has also had articles on Insurance Law published in Business Plus magazine, Business Cork, The Irish Broker, The Law Society Gazette and the Construction, Engineering and Energy Law Journal of Ireland. He has presented papers to members of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association, The Insurance Institute of Ireland and the Irish Brokers Association.

Some notable successes have been;
Obtaining the release from a €3,000,000 personal guarantee for the wife of a major regional building developer.

Persuading the High Court to affix one third contributory negligence to the client of a solicitor in a professional negligence matter.

Successfully challenged an Insurer’s refusal to provide indemnity cover for a €1,000,000 claim.

David is a member of the Law Society of Ireland, The Law Society of Northern Ireland, The Dublin Solicitors Bar Association and the Insurance Institute of Ireland

David holds an LLB Law Degree from the University of Wales, Cardiff and the Certificate in Professional Legal Studies from Queens University of Belfast. He was admitted to the roll of solicitors in Northern Ireland in 2003 and admitted in The Republic of Ireland in 2014.
