Career

David was joint managing partner and co-founder of London based solicitors Moorhead James LLP. He qualified in 1989 with a Central London firm specialising in corporate finance and then worked for a UK Top 50 London law firm. In July 2015 David became a Partner of Hewitsons.

Specialising in company and commercial work, David advises on many corporate issues including mergers and acquisitions, disposals, MBOs and MBIs, joint ventures, shareholder agreements and business start-ups.

He has substantial experience of advising management teams in relation to private equity transactions, corporate finance and banking, agency and distribution agreements, statutory compliance and non-contentious insolvency work.

David’s notable transactions include advising Fevertree Limited, the premium mixer drinks company, on its £48 million capital replacement programme and a cinema client in relation to the establishment of a new funding vehicle which raised several million pounds from high net worth investors. He has also recently acted for the management team on a “buy and build” transaction worth £100 million backed by private equity house Sovereign Capital. The deal put together SJD Accountancy and Nixon Williams to form the largest group providing accountancy services to the contractor and SME markets in the UK.
