Career

Alastair is based in LFSH’s Al Khobar office. He has over 20 years of legal experience in the UK, Jersey, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. He provides a wide range of corporate and commercial advice but specializes in banking and finance matters.

Alastair graduated from City, University of London with a BSc (Hons) in Business Studies in 1992 and qualified as an English solicitor in 1997 and as a Jersey advocate in 2003. He moved to Al Khobar from Bahrain.

Detailed study of the facts of the case (including correspondence and communications between the parties over several years) was required in order for LFSH to defeat the claim.

• advising Bahraini investors in relation to a £250m residential development in West London to include Islamic financing arrangements (commodity murabaha), bridging finance, pro forma residential lease, responses to pre-contract enquiries, sale contract, advance payment bonds and NHBC cover.

• advising in relation to disposal of a Bahraini telecoms business.

• acting for lenders on the Bahrain law aspects of a USD 500m loan facility to a GCC petrochemical producer.

• Advising in relation to the establishment of a Bahraini financial trust structure.

• Acting for Alchemy Partners on the Jersey aspects of a €90m acquisition of an Irish facilities management group held via a Jersey incorporated, unlimited liability company.

• Advising German investors on £60m acquisition of a Jersey property unit trust (“JPUT”) structure.

• Acting for Clifford Chance in connection with the US$100m refinancing of a Jersey incorporated Chinese cement company.
