Career

Darian’s practice focuses on resolving federal and provincial tax disputes in a timely, practical, and discreet manner. Darian has experience dealing with Canada Revenue Agency and provincial taxation authorities at all stages of the audit and objection stages, as well as in alternate procedures, such as voluntary disclosure programs.

Darian has also appeared before the Tax Court of Canada and the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench and has prepared submissions to appellate courts.

Darian represents public and private corporations, partnerships, trusts, individuals, and non-profit organizations in diverse sectors, including financial services, construction, real estate, transportation, manufacturing, renewable and non-renewable energy, and technology/software.

Darian has also maintained an advisory tax practice in areas such as asset and equity purchase and sale transactions, financings, employee and executive compensation, and scientific research and experimental development (SR&ED).

Prior to joining Deloitte Legal Canada LLP, Darian practiced in the tax groups of a national law firm and a regional firm in Calgary and served as a law clerk at the Alberta Court of Appeal.
