Andrékó Kinstellar handles a range of significant projects and is particularly noted for its energy sector expertise. The team is advising SK Innovation on the establishment of an electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant in Hungary. Department head Kristóf Ferenczi, who leads the firm’s energy practice, recently promoted counsel Balázs Sepsey, who is noted for energy sector transactions, and associate Péter Gullai, who specialises in energy and real estate matters, are recommended.

CMS’ team of ‘dedicated professionals’ is commended for its ability to ‘react quickly’. The team handles a range of EPC projects and is particularly noted for its energy sector experience. Budapest Power Plant is a key client. Head of projects, energy and construction Péter Simon is recommended, as is banking and finance head Erika Papp, who handles project finance mandates. Of counsel Tamás Tercsák and senior associate Nóra Kondorosi are also key members of the team.

Dentons’ expertise spans energy, infrastructure and project finance mandates and key work included advising CEFC Hainan International Holding, a subsidiary of CEFC China Energy Company, on the acquisition of a majority stake in KMG International. Project finance head Gergely Horváth and regulatory and energy head István Réczicza lead the team. Anita Horváth, of counsel Emőke Kovács, who is regularly involved in energy projects, and senior counsel Balázs Csuday, who is a regulatory expert, are also recommended. DLA Piper Hungary is regularly instructed on high-profile energy and infrastructure mandates, with expertise spanning transport, telecoms, education, health and environmental projects. Lakatos, Köves and Partners is experienced across real estate, telecoms and energy projects and it is also well equipped to handle restructuring mandates, as well as related disputes. The team acts for Rosatom on its participation in the €10bn redevelopment of Hungary’s nuclear power plant at Paks. Managing partner Péter Lakatos, Richard Lock, Péter Köves, Szabolcs Mestyán, Ádám Máttyus, Iván Sólyom and Attila Ungár lead the team. Siegler Bird & Bird Ügyvédi Iroda is recognised for its experience in energy and real estate projects. It is also experienced in regulatory matters and advised Paks Nuclear Power Plant on its rights and obligations under the Euratom Treaty. Practice head Konrád Siegler and counsel Ferenc Mátra, who handles real estate projects, are noted, as are senior associates Tamás Simon, who is experienced in project financing, and energy expert Dániel Arányi.

Wolf Theiss Faludi Erős Ügyvédi Iroda stands out for its ability to handle cross-border infrastructure and energy projects. Highlights included advising Enlight Renewable Energy on the acquisition of three solar renewable energy investment projects in Hungary. Practice head László Kenyeres, who handles energy and infrastructure projects, managing partner Zoltán Faludi, who is experienced in energy-related matters, and senior associates Zoltán Bodnár and Norbert Bálint are the names to note.

CHSH Dezsö  is experienced in public sector projects and public procurement. It assisted HungaroControl, the Hungarian air traffic controller, with the renewal of its professional indemnity insurance, which was managed in two public procurement procedures. Orsolya Hajós, Edina Nagy and Sándor Szterényi, who is experienced in public procurement and regulatory matters, lead the team. Senior associate Gizella Nagy is also recommended.

Hegymegi-Barakonyi and Partner Baker & McKenzie Attorneys-at-Law is engaged on high-value infrastructure and energy projects; it is advising China Railway No. 9 Group on the construction of the €2.4bn Budapest-Belgrade high-speed railway project. Senior counsel Pál Takács, corporate and M&A expert Ákos Fehérváry, József Vági, who handles project finance work, and Benedek Kovács, who handles real estate projects, lead the team.

Headline work for Oppenheim Ugyvedi Iroda includes advising the Hungarian subsidiary of Innogy on the establishment of a battery storage park in Hungary.
