Position

Sarah specialises in public and private law children cases, including adoption proceedings, and is regularly instructed by local authorities, parents and children’s guardians.

Sarah accepts instructions on all aspects of public law work and is developing a practice (in her own right and as a led junior) with an increasing focus on complex and serious issues such as non-accidental injury, sexual abuse, mental health problems and FII.

In private law matters, Sarah is frequently instructed to represent children in high-conflict cases that include implacable hostility and alienation.  Notable cases include:

AB (Adoption or Rehabilitation) [2017] EWFC B44 (4 July 2017)

Career

Call: 2011.

Before joining New Court, Sarah gained invaluable experience assisting the head of the family department at a large Somerset firm in a number of complex cases involving issues of capacity, learning difficulties and international elements. Key to her success in this position was her earlier experience as a fee-earner at two well-known law firms in Devon and Somerset where she gained solid foundations in both prison and mental health law. This experience was further complimented by Sarah’s volunteer work as an Appropriate Adult and as a representative with Bristol Law School’s domestic violence pro bono scheme.
