Career

Eduardo leads the Customs & Foreign Trade department.

In his daily practice at Bruchou & Funes de Rioja, he provides customs and foreign trade advice to both domestic and international clients, including litigation, dumping and foreign exchange regulations applicable to foreign trade.

Between 2001 and 2006, prior to his work at the Firm, Mr. Mallea was an associate at Baker & McKenzie (Buenos Aires office) in the Tax and Foreign Trade Department.

He was named Partner of Bruchou & Funes de Rioja in 2011.

He has been a speaker at several foreign trade seminars, both in Argentina (e.g., Mr. Mallea was a speaker regarding the dumping regime at the seminar “2010 Foreign Trade policies and regulations” organized by the Forum) and abroad, and has written numerous articles on customs matters in specialized publications, magazines and newspapers (Co-authored the articles “Transfer Pricing Features of Selected Countries 2010 – Argentina, OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and Tax Administrations 2010, IBFD – Taxand”; author of “the so-called ‘Triangulation’ and ‘Fiscal Opacity’ in International Trade. Some measures adopted by the Federal Tax Authority in the Customs field,” submitted and lectured in the 4th International Customs Law Seminar from the Argentine Fiscal Studies Association -6.15.2011-). He has also lectured about, among other topics, “Temporary and permanent importation of petroleum equipment”, in the Frac Supply Chain Summit 2014; “New Customs, Foreign Exchange and Trade regulations”, on May 2, 2016, in the Chamber of Corporations; “Review of the matter of the time periods in customs proceedings in search for efficiency”, in the 10th International Customs Law Seminar from the Argentine Fiscal Studies Association, August 10, 2017.

He also lectured at Bruchou & Funes de Rioja’s webinar, on April 14, 2020, on “Foreign Trade Issues in times of COVID”; and at the Round Table on “Foreign Trade Exchange Controls”, organized between Asociación de Comercio Argentino – Canadiense and Bruchou & Funes de Rioja (September 18, 2020).

Also, for a few years now, he has been providing classes on “Logistics and Customs Regulation in the Energy Industry” as part of the Postgraduate Program in Hydrocarbons and Energy Regulation at Universidad Católica Argentina.

Mr. Mallea is member of the Argentine Fiscal Studies Association, the Argentine Institute of Customs Studies, the International Business Committee of the Chambers of Corporations and the Import Exports Committee of the Argentine Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Mallea received a law degree from the Law School of the Universidad de Buenos Aires in 2001.
