Position

Mr. Perez Alati is one of the founding partners of PAGBAM. He is internationally recognized as one of the most experienced and solid transactional Argentine lawyers. He leads our Firm’s Merger and Acquisition Practice, having actively participated in the largest private acquisitions that took place in Argentina over the last two decades.

Mr. Perez Alati represents all type of local and foreign investors in a full range of projects in Argentina (mergers and acquisitions, dispositions of assets, private equity transactions, business combinations, corporate and assets reorganizations, etc). He is particularly versed on cross-border and international transactions.

In addition, he regularly advises clients on matters or Argentine corporate law (such as setting up of corporate entities, subsidiaries, branches, disputes between shareholders, board of directors and internal committees matters, corporate governance) and contracts law.

Career

Previous to founding PAGBAM, Mr. Perez Alati was associated with the New York law firm, Dewey, Ballantine, 1979-1980 and with Argentinean law firm Klein & Mairal, 1981-1991.

In addition to his professional practice, Mr. Perez Alati has been Assistant Professor of Constitutional Law for the School of Law of the University of Buenos Aires, Assistant Professor of Commercial Law for the School of Law of the Argentine Catholic University and Assistant Professor of Capital Markets and Financial Entities for the ESEADE Institute.

Mr. Perez Alati is a member of the Social Economic Council – Universidad Di Tella; President of the Advisory Council of the Law School – Universidad Di Tella; President of the Advisory Council of I.D.E.C. – Universidad Pompeu Fabra; Member of the Advisory Committee of the BCBA for the appointment of arbitrators.

Mr. Perez Alati is a member of the Board of Directors (and also acts as President or Vice-President in such bodies) in various Argentine and international companies and is regularly invited as speaker in domestic and international congresses and seminars.

Education

Mr. Perez Alati received his law degree from the Argentine Catholic University (Buenos Aires, Argentina) in 1977 and his L.L.M. from Columbia University Law School (New York, NY, United States of America) in 1979. In addition, Jorge L. Perez Alati has attended the Academy of American and International Law, Southwestern Legal Foundation in Dallas, Texas, United States of America in 1978 where he was awarded with the Southwestern Legal Foundation Scholarship and the John N. Johnson Scolarship.
