The firm successfully brought a trade mark infringement action on behalf of Apple, and successfully defended the chairman of the board of Pacific Securities, who was alleged to have violated the Securities and Exchange Act. Shan-Teh Lan leads a team at Lee and Li that predominantly advises the Taiwanese branches of multinational enterprises. The team is currently assisting an insurance brokerage company to enforce a non-compete covenant against a former executive.

It successfully represented Dreamwell in a trade mark opposition case against Seemoons Bedding, and also successfully applied for a three-dimensional trade mark on behalf of Tiffany. The team includes Daisy Wang and Ta-Chung Chiang.

Notable deals of 2010/2011 included the proposed privatisation of Yageo, through a $1.6bn management buyout by a consortium consisting of KKR and Yageo founder Pierre Chen, which was blocked by the Taiwanese government in June 2011. Firms involved in this deal included Lee and Li and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, which acted from its Hong Kong and Beijing offices. Jones Day acted for BOE Technology Group in its acquisition of K-Tronics Technology and the assets of JEAN, which became the first China-to-Taiwan inbound transaction; LCS & Partners advised JEAN.
Projects and energy

Joyce Fan’s team at Lee and Li in 2010 advised Kyushu Electric Power on its NT$5.9bn acquisition of 33% of the shares in Hsin Tao Power. Iit regularly advises the Taiwan government on defence equipment and public infrastructure projects, among others.
