Career

Diego Torres advises national and international clients on corporate and indirect taxation, the tax planning of projects and business activities, as well as on the application of treaties to avoid double taxation and territorial taxes. He has also participated in the tax structuring of several M&A transactions and corporate restructurings, and in Colombian outbound and inbound investments. He advises all kinds of taxpayers on planning and implementing legal defense strategies in disputes arising with regional and national tax authorities (administrative and court proceedings).

He also has extensive experience in advising families and family businesses on tax matters and asset management.

In addition to his specialty area of tax law, he has experience in corporate law.

He has been a lecturer at the Chair of Income Tax and Advanced Income Tax Matters in the postgraduate courses in tax at Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá and Universidad EAFIT in Medellín.

He is a member of the Colombian Institute of Tax Law.

Before joining Cuatrecasas, he worked in tax law at a leading law firm in Colombia.
