Migrants who have been given permission to enter or remain in the UK, including for the purposes of working here, will have been issued by the Home Office with a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP). This is a physical plastic card which confirms the migrants status in the United Kingdom (UK). For quite some time now, the Home Office have been issuing BRP's with an expiry date of 31 December 2024 even though the migrant's actual permission to remain in the UK may extend beyond that date because the Home Office is moving towards a fully digital immigration system from 1 January 2025. They are implementing new regulations and it will be very important for employers to be aware of and take account of these new regulations.
