近年、人工知能（AI）技術の発展が速く、関連する特許出願の数が顕著に増加している。出願者が人工知能関連の特許審査基準と実務をより良く理解するよう支援するため、中国国家知識産権局（CNIPA)と日本国特許庁（JPO)は共同で、人工知能分野の特許審査に関する比較研究を行い、研究報告書を作成した。
この研究報告書には、審査規則と事例研究の2部分が含まれている。審査規則の部分では、特許権を付与できる対象、新規性、創造性、明細書、請求項などに関する両庁の審査基準について、詳細に紹介されている。事例研究の部分では、16の典型的な事例を選び、両庁の審査プロセスと結論を比較分析している。
