Clare’s practice focuses on matters involving whistleblowing, stress at work, PHI and disability discrimination in addition to the full range of employment matters. Praised by The Legal 500 UK as having “outstanding client management skills, and serious litigation nous,” Clare has recently advised a number of clients who suffer from mental health conditions and experienced difficulties in the workplace.
Prior to being promoted to partner, Clare was ranked as a Rising Star in the Legal 500 UK 2023 and an Associate to Watch in Chambers UK 2023, where the publication states that she is “making a name for herself when advising on employment disputes. She has notable capabilities representing senior executives in discrimination cases.”
When settlements cannot be achieved, Clare has significant experience in representing clients in Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal litigation. In 2021 and 2022 alone she has advised clients in Employment Tribunal claims for ordinary unfair dismissal, automatic unfair dismissal due to whistleblowing, whistleblowing detriment, race discrimination, harassment and victimisation as well as in High Court personal injury claims. She is currently acting for a number of clients in high value Employment Tribunal claims.
Outside of litigation, Clare provides practical and commercial advice on a wide range of workplace issues. The processes can often lead to negotiated exits which Clare has frequently advised on, in relation to both the legal and practical issues arising when employment is terminated.
Clare has a small but valued group of employer clients. She provides regular advice to these businesses on all HR and employment related matters, including performance issues, disciplinary and grievance matters, sickness absence, redundancy processes and enforcing post-termination restrictions. Her advice takes account of both the legal and commercial considerations of each matter and clients value her pragmatic approach.

Clare also volunteers for Rights of Women’s Sexual Harassment at Work Helpline on a monthly basis, where she provides confidential advice to women experiencing sexual harassment at work.
Leisure
Outside of work, Clare is a keen runner and is getting into yoga. She also enjoys travelling and watching speedway – her team, the Workington Comets, won the treble in 2018 and she was pleased to be at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester when Great Britain won the Speedway of Nations (world cup) in October 2021.
