Career
Ravindra obtained his degree of Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of London in 1985 and the Certificate in Legal Practice issued by the Malaysian Legal Profession Qualifying Board (established under the Legal Profession Act 1976) in 1986. He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1987 and thereafter practised in Kuala Lumpur, handling litigation principally in the areas of insurance, motor accidents and probate, before joining the firm in December 1992.
Ravindra became a partner in 1999. Presently focused on employment law and industrial relations, he has appeared at all levels of the Malaysian court hierachy in dealing with employment cases, usually representing employers in unfair/constructive dismissal cases as well as in judicial review applications and injunction applications. He also advises on retrenchment exercises, business rationalization measures and collective agreements.
Included in the ranks of Leading Individuals in Employment and Industrial Relations in Chambers Asia Pacific for the years 2010 – 2023, Leading Lawyers in AsiaLaw Profiles in 2014, 2016 – 2019, and Distinguished Practitioners in AsiaLaw Profiles for 2020-2023, he was also named as a “Litigation Star” by Benchmark Litigation in 2018 – 2022.
Ravindra is the current President of the Malaysian Society for Labour & Social Security Law and a past Chairman of the Human Resource Committee of the EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is a member of the Disciplinary Committee Panel appointed by the Advocates and Solicitors’ Disciplinary Board under the Legal Profession Act 1976.
