Insolvency and Restructuring, International Asset Tracing and Recovery
Kees van de Meent is co-managing partner of the firm and co-head of the Insolvency and Restructuring team. He is active in restructuring and insolvency, as well as international asset tracing and recovery and civil fraud litigation. He has been involved as bankruptcy trustee for more than 25 years in various high-profile and complex insolvencies. He also acts as counsel to companies facing financial difficulties. In addition he has experience with pre-packs, both as counsel to the company and as court-appointed administrator.
Before the formation of Florent, Kees was a partner at Höcker.

Kees is member of INSOL International, INSOL Europe, INSOLAD (the Dutch Association of Insolvency Lawyers), NVRII/NACILL (the Netherlands Association for Comparative and International Insolvency Law), the IBA and the Turnaround Management Association. He is also the exclusive Dutch member of FraudNet, the global network operating under the ICC to provide fraud victims with a global service to respond to fraud. In addition he is chairman of the Asset Recovery Chamber of the Institute for Financial Crime (IFFC), the Netherlands national institute for innovation of investigation, co-operation and education in the field of combatting financial crime.

Florent is focused on representing the victims of civil fraud, with matters including fraud litigation, cross-border asset recovery, bankruptcy proceedings, and fraud investigations. The team is involved in many international cases, as part of the ICC’s FraudNet network, securing referrals from a number of foreign firms and clients. The practice’s capability in fraud investigations is bolstered by its employment of a forensic accountant, allowing it to take a leading role in high-profile cases. The practice is led by the ‘highly knowledgeable’ Kees van de Meent .
Florent has an ‘in-depth‘ knowledge of insolvency matters and regularly acts as appointed trustees and administrators for suspension of payment and bankruptcy proceedings. Notable highlights include acting for V&D and La Place as bankruptcy trustees, with both practice heads Hanneke De Coninck-Smolders and Kees van de Meent leading the matter.
